Raman Scattering by Atomic Hydrogen in Photodissociation Regions: An Alternative to the Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Hypothesis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract Photodissociation regions (PDRs) illuminated by high temperature ( T > 10 4 K) radiation fields display characteristic optical to midinfrared spectral features: emission bands that cluster around the blue limits of hydrogen series, an extended red (ERE) in vicinity H α , and a continuum infrared part spectrum only. The footprint ERE its intensity at maximum unequivocally designate Raman scattering photons near Ly β as responsible for feature, thus suggesting PDR spectra be considered spectra. This finding challenges currently accepted hypothesis yet-to-be-identified complex carbonaceous molecules, such polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, are source PDRs’ unidentified bands. It has, therefore, significant implications field astrochemistry.

Investigating the Presence of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Doogh
Background and purpose: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are one of the most common environmental pollutants that are proven to be carcinogenic and mutagenic. Doogh, is a widely consumed fermented yoghurt drink in Iran. The aim of this study was to determine the presence and concentration of PAHs in different brands of Doogh in Tehran, Iran. Materials and methods: In this study, we synt...
متن کاملBiodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by Pseudomonas species
Biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, toxic compounds widely distributed in the environment by bacteria, is a cheap and safe cleaning up method. The present study attempts to isolate and characterize dioxygenase-producing bacteria which are able to degrade phenanthrene and pyrene from refinery soils. It also aims to assess in vitro biodegradation. To do so, two contaminated soil s...

متن کاملBiodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...
متن کاملAn Approach to the Synthesis of Functionalized Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
The application of a new benzannulation reaction for the regiocontrolled synthesis of functionalized chrysenes is reported. The initial benzannulation and the subsequent halogen displacement reactions are both highly regiospecific, which thereby enables the regiocontrolled synthesis of a variety of 4,10-disubstituted chrysenes from commercially available 1,5-dihydroxynaphthalene.
